Biography
Tomas Koeck is an SPJ award-winning filmmaker, Canon USA-backed photographer, speaker/presenter, and expeditionist. In simpler terms, he’s a storyteller, an environmentalist, and, most importantly, an optimist. He has been on assignment for National Geographic, Smithsonian Channel, PBS Nature, and others covering stories throughout North America and seeks to give a voice to wildlife through journalism, storytelling, and advocacy. He is the founder and director of Silent Flight Studios, a production company specializing in natural history.
Koeck strives to be involved and integrated in the communications and natural history field. He is a fellow at the Explorers Club, a 2026 EC50 Awardee presented by ROLEX and is also an inductee in the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Association Honors Society. A two-time recipient for "Excellence in Journalism" by the Society of Professional Journalists, other honors include the Sacred Heart University Gold Medal of Excellence, Yale University Centerpiece Film, and he has a Master's in Journalism from Sacred Heart University's School of Communication, Media & the Arts.
