Get Involved

The ASI creates opportunities for donors and boat owners to assist in critical projects!

The ASI has wonderful options for supporters to assist in our research.  The most visible way to donate and support the Atlantic Shark Institute is through our annual acoustic buoy sponsorships. These receivers are critical to our shark research and every researcher working in the Northwest Atlantic.

The ASI has 19 acoustic research buoys to be deployed each season and every year our goal is to have a sponsor for each one. These receivers detect anything with an acoustic transmitter attached to it, and that includes many species of sharks but also sturgeon, sea turtles, tuna, striped bass and many other species. Thus the reason that they are so important to ocean health. The cost per year is $500 and lists you below to be recognized for your support. Reserve your buoy today!

Other Ways to Support

The ASI is a collaborative institution and we pride ourselves by partnering  with others to achieve common goals!

Donations are critical for the survival of non-profit environmental research. If you are interested becoming a sponsor please contact us! First Year Research Donors receive an exclusive Atlantic Shark Institute, Research Donor t-shirt at no cost. Second year donors receive an exclusive Atlantic Shark Institute, Research Donor Sweatshirt and third year donors receive an exclusive Atlantic Shark Institute, Research Donor jacket.

100% of donations go directly to supporting critical shark research. Remember, as the Atlantic Shark Institute is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, donors can deduct contributions made under IRC Section 170 and we supply the documentation needed to reflect your generosity. Thank you for your consideration.

Collaborative research plays a critical role in our strategic direction and decision-making as data collection is essential for many of our studies. Collaborating with other institutions, scientists and non-profits helps us get to critical answers more quickly than may otherwise be the case.

We leverage the collective expertise of the Research Advisory Board members to determine how and where we invest our resources in the best interest of those species that need our help and to assess the value that these studies can provide.

If you are part of a scientific institution, university, research station, feel free to reach out about collaboration.
