Conor McManus PhD

Biography

Dr. Conor McManus is a marine scientist with extensive experience in fisheries oceanography and ecosystem research. He earned his B.A. in Marine Science from Boston University, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography. His career includes roles with Applied Science Associates and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Marine Fisheries. In 2024, he joined NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) as the Advanced Technology Program Lead within the Ecosystem Surveys Branch, where he leads efforts to advance survey methodologies and analytical tools that inform stock and ecosystem assessments.

Dr. McManus is a regular collaborator with the Atlantic Shark Institute, contributing to joint research focused on shark populations, habitat use, and ecosystem-level dynamics. His work plays a critical role in supporting science-based conservation and management strategies for shark species throughout the Northwest Atlantic.
